Manufacturer documentation
We start with the manufacturer's own documentation — spec sheets, manuals, support pages and official product pages. These are the source of truth for stated capabilities like navigation type, rated area, slope, boundary requirements and connectivity.
Specifications verified
We cross-check stated specs against multiple sources and flag any discrepancies. Where a manufacturer quotes slope in degrees, we note the unit so you aren't comparing degrees to percent grade. Units and assumptions are stated, never hidden.
Owner experiences researched
We research owner and community discussion to understand how mowers behave in real yards — not just on spec sheets. This informs our 'where it makes sense' and 'what we'd double check' sections, which describe documented limitations rather than invented ones.
Retail availability checked
We check retail availability and pricing ranges so the 'check retail options' links point to live listings rather than stale inventory. Prices are given as ranges, not exact figures, because retail prices move.
Editorial review
Finally, an editorial review shapes the positioning, the 'who is this for' guidance and the related-product suggestions. Commercial relationships never determine editorial conclusions.
